Jerry Brown sworn in as 39th California Governor
I thought it was heartwarming Jerry Brown was introduced by his wife Anne Gust Brown before he was sworn in to become Governor of California for his second time.
She said it was a kind of coming back, an emotional day for him.
Sacramento's Memorial Auditorium was filled with a lot of people this morning to witness the ceremony.
Gust held the Bible that belonged to her grandfather and used in the Brown's wedding ceremony.
The oath was the normal one Governors swear into.
Brown repeated the phrase that he took the 'obligation freely and without mental reservation', then turned to the audience and said, "Really, no mental reservation."
Everyone cracked up.
When the swearing in was done, the Browns and their entourage and many media folks exited through the front. It was mass bodies that followed them across busy J Street, stopping traffic.
The Browns were followed to the front entrance of their loft located above PF Chang at the intersection of J and 16th St.
I was there as photographer, not as a reporter.
