Jerry Kane and His Son Joe Kane Have Been Identified as the Men Who Shot and Killed West Memphis Police Officers Bill Evans and Braudon Paudert on May 20
Officer Bill Evans and Braudon Paudert, the son of the Police Chief Bob Paudert were killed on May 20 when they made a traffic stop near I-40 and Airport Road. The two suspects fled the scene and died later in a shootout with police in a parking lot of a Walmart in West Memphis.

The two men also shot Crittenden County Sheriff Dick Busby chief deputy, W.A. Wren who are both in serious condition in hospital.
The two suspects have now been identified as 45-year-old Jerry Kane and his 16-year-old son Joe Kane.
Officers Bill Evans and Braudon Paudert were running 'drug interdiction' on Thursday afternoon when they pulled over the Kanes driving a white van with Ohio license plates. The van has been traced back to a 'now defunct church' with alleged white-supremacist ties according to WBNS-10TV.
This is not the first time that Jerry Kane has had an interaction with police. In 2004 he was sentenced in Ohio to community service for traffic violations.
Clark County Sheriff Gene A. Kelly said he warned his deputies six years ago that Jerry Kane was violent.
"I had my first confrontation with him when he tried to come to a foreclosure sale and write me a check on a piece of paper indicating that he was a free man and he only believed in silver and gold and that he didn't believe in banks," Kelly said.
Mr. Kelly went on to describe the incident:
"He believed that would enslave him and he was demanding $100,000 in silver and gold," Kelly said. "This man has been having confrontations with authorities for years. And finally, the ultimate result is, law enforcement officers paid the ultimate price for that."

A website has been set up complete with pictures of the father and son to help raise funds to bring the bodies back to Florida for burial. The site describes them as being loving and compassionate people and making tireless contributions to help those in need.
It states that Jerry Kane was married just three months ago to a woman named Donna Lee, and expresses sadness for the families of Officers Bill Evans and Braudon Paudert.
In a post by a woman named Angela on the website, she says that she has been a longtime friend of Jerry Kane and praised his son Joe for being like his father by possessing a quick wit and a brilliant mind. She says Joe was a well-rounded young man with a bright future ahead of him.
Jerry and Joe were cleancut and admired by everyone that made their aquaintance, not only for their knowledge and understanding of the foreclosure scam, but for their moral etchics and integrity.
Together they educated the people about the Mortgage Fraud and how to fight to keep their homes.
She says that this is a terrible tragedy for all involved.
The exact details of what did happen have not been released at this time, but according to a report from the Associated Press, when Officer Bill Evans pulled over the van two men got out with AK-46s and just started shooting but an explanation as to why is not given. It is going to be difficult to determine the exact chain of events because everyone involved in the stop is now dead.

The van was given to Jerry Kane by the prior owner, in gratitude for Kane helping the prior owner to rescue his real property. Kane also helped create a temporary shelter for the homeless. Jerry and Joe Kane bore no relationship to white supremacist groups, nor any racist groups. Jerry and Joe Kane did not have a history of violence. De mortuis nil nisi bonum.

Law enforcement officials have still not identified the Kane's as the ones who killed the officers at the traffic stop. However, ALL the headlines presume it and all this drivel, false accusations, guilty until proven innocent articles have condemned them already. The only facts on the table at this point is that the Kane's were killed by law enforcement. The videos are all there. The pictures are all there. The statements by law enforcement and the media are all there but where's the proof?Where's the video and audio of the Kane's shooting the officers at the traffic stop? NON-EXISTENT! Tell me the West Memphis Police don't have audio and video capabilities in the patrol cars. They should have been able to screen to the public within minutes what happened. This information is still not available. WHY?Oh, and then the drivel about white Supremacy groups from...oh what did they say 10 maybe 13 years ago that exists no longer? I wonder if the van was that old. Btw, who is it registered to now if anyone?It kills me to think of all the tragedy that has been done. I feel for the Kane's(they left family too) and those who knew them and were helped by them. I feel for the officers and their families. I feel for the brothers and sisters in law enforcement who lost some of their own. But WHERE is the proof that it was the Kane's who killed the officers at the traffic stop? Nothing goes further until that is proved and videos and audios are aired proving that claim. Otherwise it is nothing but hearsay. This will not end until the people know the truth and the drivel by law enforcement out of their mouths won't prove a thing except a coverup. Holding back information from the people by law enforcement is a direct violation of the peoples ability to control their government and police forces. It's the peoples information. NOT law enforcement's information. Well said ramses. Everyone involved in the initial engagement is dead! Barring possible eyewitnesses that have not yet come forward, the ONLY proof is in those squad cars on video and audio. The only reason to not release that info to the public is if the matter is still under official investigation...and if this is the case, WHY HAS EVERYONE CONCLUSIVELY ADJUDICATED THE INCIDENT INCLUDING THE BIASED MEDIA, THE COPS, THE MASS PUBLIC WHO'VE MADE COMMENTS, ETC? We don't know. However, its typical for everyone, especially the media, to move on PRESUMPTION without knowing the FACTS. I too feel bad for the final results of this act of violence from both parties, and the families they left behind, BUT IT MAY HAVE BEEN MANDATED given the circumstance from either party involved. We don't know yet! Until government becomes transparent and starts governing under the "consent of the governed", what the facts will bear out is there are hundreds of millions of guns owned and operated by a wound up pissed off general civilian population with millions and millions of them being trained soldiers. As we reach a boiling point (you can feel it!), the state of affairs in this country doesn't bode well for an intrusive government that has little regard for the CIVIL RIGHTS of the citizens. According to our founders, it is government's obligation to protect our liberty, not provide it or usurp it! It was Jerry and Joe who were engaged by law enforcement...not the other way around. The right to travel (vs. "privilege to drive") is a basic God given liberty along with the free speech, the right to bear arms, etc, etc. Lets wait for the facts and keep our mouths shut and guns loaded in the meantime. Always stay on the side of truth and liberty.

very interesting case. The feds need to be brought in on this one, considering the Kane's have encountered some of these town folks before and it wasn't pleasant. If you stand up to bad gov and cops, they do hold a grudge. I'm proof of that.I had to leave town, or I probably would have ended up dead.

So, some of you guys believe the two dead police officers staged all of this just so they could perpetuate some sort of conspiracy to kill the Kanes??I'm sure the ballistics will answer any lingering questions you misfits think up. There are numerous citizens who are giving statements too. You nutjobs need to take a deep breath and listen to yourselves.

nobody claims to have staged anything. It appears that it was a clear case of of someone violating a code, statute, or act (could have been either party) with the result being actions spinning out of control. Lets not presume. Wait for the facts. Clearly though, there are nutjobs involved interpreting what happened.
