Journalist Jessica McBride has been discovered to have had an affair with Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn.

Mr. Flynn told the press that the affair started earlier this year, but he did not name Ms. McBride specifically in his statement. He said he was sorry he had hurt his family.

"I accept the personal and public consequences of my private behavior. I have damaged my public reputation and violated the trust and love of my family."

Jessica McBride is a well-known journalist and she has writter about the Milwaukee Police Department in the past; her last piece being a 5,500 word profile about how wonderful Police Chief Flynn is in the community.

She is also a journalism lecturer at the University of Wisconsin and a former Journal Sentinel reporter.

She is married, and has yet to issue a statement on the matter.

Bonnie, yes, lots of people make bad decisions leading to infidelity (John Norquist, Bill Clinton, etc.), and it's very unfortunate for their families when it happens. However, the affair between Flynn and McBride was a peersonal issue, not doe on the job -- or with staff, as was the case with Norquist and Clinton. And, that is a BIG difference.

RMW - How do you know that nothing was done "on the job"? Were you there?

Legal Authorities should fired Police Chief Edward Flynn. This not personal. How do we trust our police officers? He and Jessica made adultery. Both parties commit the crime of adultery.. According to Wisconsin state law (WI Statute 944.16) , adultery is a Class I felony.
