Understand that although I write with intellectual assertion, this note, like many others is sprinkled with deliberate broad strokes of the brush and Euphemisms; a writing style that can often be mischaracterized as brash & presumptive but is merely meant to be thought provoking. And so with that said some of you may consider what I'm about to write as nothing more than blasphemous ramblings full of misdirection and innuendo but humor me for a second; when the headlines and contemporary issues that divide the parties are juxtaposed one can only conclude that Jesus would be a democrat by default.
Now I can't say whether or not Jesus would support
Abortion but I doubt he would be against a woman's right to choose much like he gives us the choice to follow him; a sentiment of choice I would assume he would extend to the
Gay & Lesbian community. I cannot begin to speculate on whether or not he would be for or against the
War on Terror but I'm confident he would be against torture and the mistreatment of anyone created in God's image. I don't know if Jesus would drive a
Toyota hybrid but I can conclude with little reservation that he would say this earth is a gift from God and therefore it is our responsibility to treat it accordingly. I don't know if Jesus would have a problem with the wealth accumulated by health industry CEOs and the politicians they own (give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar) but I'm confident he would be on the forefront of
Universal Healthcare Reform because he would depict it as a moral imperative; the moral obligation that insists we be our brother and sister's keeper because in his words "whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." And maybe in the case of
Immigration Reform Jesus would be more sympathetic because much like the immigrants of today, him and his followers were considered outsiders and social pariahs; they were seen as different, foreign in belief, culture and background and as a result were persecuted for it.
Therefore Jesus must be a democrat because I often wonder if he would join a party that has become a breeding ground for the hateful and prejudice driven fringes of society; a place where Senators preach family values but yet they cheat on their wives with mistresses in Argentina; a place where Republican protesters hang effigies of democrat congressmen on a noose or draw a swastika on the door a of black Georgia Democrat's Office. Indeed, It seems as if some extreme Republicans & Christians now act as though they have a monopoly on God and religion. Much like the Pharisees they stand on pedestals made out of their hypocrisy and self-righteousness as they spew an interpretation of the gospel that has been tainted by their "Holier-Than-Thou" complex - a flawed understanding of God's word that has often been muddied and mixed in with their own personal opinions that are often influenced by their "isms" (racism, sexism, homophobia etc)
And besides, Jesus rode a Donkey into Jerusalem not an Elephant.
sincerely yours,
Kwapi

Not that I necessarily agree with some things you are talking of as I feel that homosexuality is wrong as God made man for woman, however I feel that that is their sin and they will be judged for that in the hearafter. I would like to say that I digg what you are trying to put across God chose Jesus as a prophet so he would not have chosen a man with any hypocracy at all.
May the peace of Allah(god) be upon you.

Israel is My son, even My first born. (Exodus 4:22)
Also I will make him (David) Myfirst born, higher than the kings of the earth. (Psalms 89:27)
He (Solomon) shall be My son, and I will be his Father. (1. Chron 22:10)
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. (Matt. 5:9)
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. (John 3:1)
These Biblical pasages should help clarify the situation.

Sputnic, those are some very beautiful passages... although I know not what they have to do with the article. If what you mean is that Christianity is an illegitimate religion because all of the world's prophets, as well as any person who follows the teachings of these prophets, are the children of God, then that is your opinion. But, as it is, there are those that believe that Jesus is the Mesiah, and the point of this artical is that Christian Republicans are very unlike their Christ.

Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem, not an elephant. I think that should be the slogan for our next campaign, lol.

Excellent Job.. these are new times the Bible was written a long time ago with different social standards but the basic messages is always valid, compassion and his legacy of love will never die. if a leader divulges hate, fear or defends those few who own huge capital despite the big majority... Those leader are opposed to Jesus..
