A Jew in Nazi Germany or a North Indian in Mumbai

Although it would be wrong to compare my situation to a Jew in Nazi Germany but if you think about it, the basic fundamentals are the same. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has once again beaten up people from North India and this make me uncomfortable while venturing out in the city, specially because I have unmistakable looks of a north Indian and I don't speak Marathi. At times like these when the followers of Raj Thackeray are on a rampage, burning buses, beating up people, I feel unsafe driving in the city in a car with Delhi registration plates-it is almost like painting a bulls eye on my arse.

During the previous wave of violence by MNS against North Indians, one of my friend commented that Raj Thackeray is not really against North Indians, it is just to gain publicity. Unfortunately, this is the truth, and this is the most disturbing part of the whole thing. If someone is fighting for people whom he genuinely feel are oppressed, I admire that person. What I hate and fear is a man who is inciting the people who feel they are oppressed against another set of innocent people. What you have is a man who is happy to get a few people killed if it can get him some votes and that also while he personally have nothing against the people being killed.
