Jewish group slams British MP's Holocaust remark
Already Hamas has continued to fire mortors and rockets into Israel in spite of the recent unilateral ceasefire.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center condemned British Parliamentarian Gerald Kaufman last week for telling his fellow lawmakers in the House of Commons that Israel is exploiting the guilt that non-Jews feel about the Holocaust in order to justify defensive operations in Gaza.
Guilt Trip?
British MP: Israel exploiting Holocaust / Associated Press Jewish lawmaker says gentiles' guilt providing Israeli government with excuse to murder Palestinians Full story "The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploits the continuing guilt from Gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians," Kaufman, a governing Labour Party legislator, said Thursday during a House of Commons debate on Gaza.
“Mr. Kaufman manages in one disgraceful screed to insult all victims of the Nazi Holocaust and the people of Israel, whose are guilty of finally protecting themselves from a terrorist group whose self-proclaimed goal is to fulfill Hitler's vision of a 'Judenrein' Holy Land,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Wiesenthal Center.

THANK YOU.

Gerald Kaufman is quite correct. I applaud him for speaking out, for saying what has been largely taboo for to long. The legacy of the Holocaust must be applied to other forms of oppression, not used to justify them.
Italian cartoonist Gatto Alessandro has created works that challenge this taboo:

I think that if you want to advertise your racist wares do so on your articles thanks. I think that your one-sided ploy is also getting tired on NP. Everyone has a right to their views and opinions. But you seem to have a woody for the JEWS and Israel.

What is racist about my statement above?

I'd be inteested in a sociological/psychological study of people who view Israel's actions as Genocidal and Gaza as a Holocaust. I simply cannot believe that anyone climbs on the 'Israel/Jews= Nazis' bandwagon while having any real grasp of or empathy for the severity of what Jews and Israel have endured. It all comes across as an excuse to vent preexisting Jewish Anti-Semitism.

So are you saying that Gerald kaufman is anti semetic ? He is jewish !
at 10:02 on January 18th, 2009
I am saying that he does not want to be identified as Jewish and uses it when it suits him. Self-hating would be more accurate.

What with a name like Kaufman ? Mr Kaufman does a lot of work with Jewish charities. He is well known over here. Why have you not called him anti semitic, you usually do when somebody criticises Israel ?

Because I do not personally know the man. It is irrelevant if he is or not. He has been pretty much ostracized by his own community. Not for his views but for his one-sided brutal need to be liked by the non-Jewish forces in England. He is in a sense there "uncle-Jew".

I have never been called non jewish force before, it makes me feel like a super hero. I shall fight you and be victorious paranoid zionist man

I'm begining to find it hilarious how what we think/say/write can somehow override our mother's geneology, unseen!

Why do you include yourself among the "non-Jewish" force? This is not a slight against non-Jews. This is an alignment with far-left non Jews that generally reject Jewish leftist participation. This is all to familiar in the US. Read a little history before you make wise-arse cracks. It belittles you.

Kaufman dude is English. Plenty of Jewish people involved with the socialist worker party that I used to hang around with from time to time. To clarify I dont entirely like Kaufmans politics

I agree. In the US Jewish leftists were not appreciated in the leftist circles in America. That was one of the major reasons people like Michael Lerner and his group started their own organizations when they wouldn't let him speak at anti-war rallies etc. The left hates the Jewish left as much as their opponents. I really don't know what it is like in the UK. Jews have always participated in the Socialist Workers Party in the US but in those days they were generally accepted. Not since after the Vietnam war did this phenomena begin.
