The Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) issued a new threat on August 6, 2008 against the Beijing Olympics, and urged Muslims not to attend the games or be within the vicinity. This threat was issued in a nearly six minute video titled, “Call to the Global Muslim Ummah”. It bears a production date of August 1, 2008, and contains similar graphics to TIP’s previous video, from July 24, of the Beijing Olympics logo in flames. The speaker identifies himself as a representative of TIP, and urges Muslims to “choose your side”. To protect Muslims, he asks them to keep their children from attending the games, and gives a broader warning: “Do not stay on the same bus, on the same train, on the same plane, in the same buildings, or any place the Chinese are.” Also, the representative calls upon Muslims to offer support financially, physically, spiritually, and by their words. ... Older article:   This morning China got his first terroristic attack on several places. In Kunming the first attack on a bus took place at 07:10 on West Renmin Road. The second attack took place not far from the first at 08:05 on the crossing of Changyuan Road and West Renmin Road, say around the corner.

At least three people were killed and 14 others were heavily wounded. Probably a third bus exploded with a simular kind of bomb-attack in Minshan district. News about that explosion is not certain. Some newsagencies talk about an explosion and other say there nothing unusual in Minshan.

Update 22-7: Chinese police are investigating a bizarre text message warning residents of Kunming to avoid buses hours before two bomb blasts killed two passengers in the Monday rush hour, local media reported. "The general mobilization of ants... (I) hope citizens receiving this message will not take bus lines 54, 64 and 84 tomorrow morning," the newspaper quoted the message as saying.
