An employee was shot in the leg during an armed robbery at a Jimmy John's outlet in Tallahassee, Florida. The man was shot at around 3:45 am last night while taking out the trash, and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to be treated.

Robberies involving shootings are rare in the area, according to Tallahassee police spokesperson Danny Jeter. He also claims that the assault was unprovoked. The suspect is a black male in his twenties who covered his face with a black shirt, according to tallahassee.com.

Once they were inside, the armed man demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and left, Jeter said. Two other employees were there at the time of the robbery, but were not hurt.

The robbery was preceded by two similar robberies at a Jimmy John's branch in Peoria, Illinois, in April and again in July. The suspects at all three robberies bear physical resemblance, and all three occurred near the restaurant's closing hour. However, no connection among the robberies has yet been proven.

"The suspects are similar, and the circumstances are similar, but there's no way to know if the two are related," Peoria police spokesman Doug Burgess said.

The robbery does, however, make one see the Jimmy John's superbowl commercial in a new light.
