John Allen Muhammad, the Washington DC sniper who killed 10 people in 2002 is set to be executed on November 10. Muhammad was sentenced to death for the murder of Dean Meyers, who was killed at a petrol station in Manassas, Virginia. John Allen Muhammad's teenage accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo is serving his life sentence.

Muhammad's lawyer, Jonathan Sheldon, said his client will appeal to the Supreme Court.

Muhammad and Malvo killed 6 people in Alabama and Louisiana before moving to Maryland, Washington, and Virginia.

The attorney general's office had requested last week that the execution be on Monday 9 November.

But Prince William County Circuit judge Mary Grace O'Brien chose Tuesday, so the courts would be open the day before for any last-minute appeals.

Muhammad and Malvo shot 13 people and killed 10 of them in a 3 week period in October 2002.
The two also are suspected in other shootings, including ones in Tacoma, Washington; Montgomery, Alabama; and elsewhere in the Washington metro area.
