Muhammad executed for sniper killing

No final words in last minutes
10 were slain in Oct. 2002 rampage

“JARRATT, Va. -- John Allen Muhammad, the sniper who kept the Washington region paralyzed by fear for three weeks as he and a young accomplice gunned down people at random, was executed Tuesday night by lethal injection.”

Muhammad terrorized our community like never before, driving from neighborhood to neighborhood, taking shots at innocent victims, killing people from all ages and walks of life. As I traveled the same route as the snipers in the course of my work day, one time they killed someone while at a gas station where I had just filled my tank. Another time, they killed someone at a bus stop. Closest to home, they shot an off duty woman FBI member while she was shopping with her husband at Home Depot.

I was spinning and reeling in despair, on a constant lookout for a white van. I swore I saw suspicious white vans everywhere I looked.

In the end, it wasn’t a white van, but an older model GM car, dark blue, with a hole in the trunk from which the sniper accomplice Malvo would shoot his rifle.

At one point in my life, I was against Capital punishment. Then, I realized that all the resources consumed to keep criminals alive, could be used for better purposes, so I switched to killing murderers.
