John Edwards Finally Admits Having an Affair
Although main stream media did its best to ignore the John Edwards affair, tut tutting at the National Enquirer, today Edwards 'fessed up. My earlier coverage of the scandal enveloping one of Barack Obama's top vice-presidential picks begins here.
Edwards, one of the front-runners this year as a presidential candidate for the Democratic party, previously ran for vice-president in the 2004 elections. He was teamed with John Kerry.
Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair while his wife was battling cancer. He denied fathering the woman's daughter.
Mr. Edwards told ABC News that he lied repeatedly about the affair with 42-year-old Rielle Hunter but said that he didn't love her. He said he has not taken a paternity test but knows he isn't the father because of the timing of the affair and the birth.
.....
The National Enquirer first reported on the affair in October 2007, and Mr. Edwards denied it.
"The story is false," he told reporters. "It's completely untrue, ridiculous."
The Enquirer carried another story last month, stating that its reporters had accosted Mr. Edwards in a Los Angeles hotel where he had met with Ms. Hunter after her child's birth. Mr. Edwards called it "tabloid trash,"

I'm surprised he took time to step away from the mirror. Must have been in between haircuts.

Thanks, Jarrett, but the other one wasn't visible when I posted. Because I have links to my prior coverage, I'm letting my post, which is excerpted, not a total copy, stand. Multiple posts on topics are frequent around here. Different perspectives can be good, no? Have a great weekend!

You were the first one here to come out with this story. Not too surprised at this turn of events but I'm still sickened. His wife is dying from cancer and he cheats on her - despicable!

Hot story and the news stations are all over it. Does any politician tell the truth?

The really disturbing thing about the John Edwards affair and lies is that so many Democrats actually voted for this charlatan. One look should have told them that he was a sham and a liar. When ignorance reigns, democracy suffers.
