John MCCain Acceptance Speech 2008 Republican

Haven't seen this up on the site yet, here's the transcript of McCain's speech, as well as video of it and links to the other speakers:

MCCAIN: And I've found just the right partner to help me shake up

Washington, Governor Sarah...

(APPLAUSE)

Governor Sarah Palin of the great state of Alaska.

(APPLAUSE)

And I want to thank everyone here and all over America for the

tremendous, wonderful, warm reception you gave her last night. Thank

you so much. She deserves it. What a great beginning.

You know, she has an executive experience and a real record of

accomplishment. She's tackled tough problems, like energy independence

and corruption. She's balanced a budget, cut taxes, and she's taken on

the special interests.

(APPLAUSE)

She's reached across the aisle and asked Republicans, Democrats, and

independents to serve in her administration. She's the wonderful

mother of five children.

Gotta say, nytimes.com has a great site with the text and video, check it out:

Interactive video and transcript of the senator accepting the Republican presidential nomination in St. Paul on Sept. 4.

Our very own Jarrett Martineau reported live from the Vancouver media center (our office), blogging about the speech.

As NowPublic member Mikasi reporter earlier here, protesters were engaged in clashes with riot police in St Paul, outside of the Republican National Convention, where John McCain spoke this evening.

Current reports indicate that between 100 and 150 people have been arrested on the Marion Bridge.

McCain is not a good public speaker but the content and the sincerity far outshines the little weasel.

His wife might own several houses but look at what she has done for people.
