It it Amnesty International's 50th anniversary. As I write about them, I sit here in my Amnesty International t-shirt which arrived yesterday. They are a great organization and they are having a fund raiser on March 4th, entitled the Secret Policeman's Ball. Actually, they have had many in the past. Such celebrities as Sting and Bono have appeared. Indeed, appearing this year are Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and Russell Brand, along with the band Coldplay. So, check out the website and if you so desire, write some letters in support of human rights. You don't even have to mail them if you don't want to, you can send quick and easy e-mails for human rights by a quick click of your mouse.

Great until they need to deal with the Middle East. Then they fall flat on their faces. Don't want to be a damper on the affair but they get an F or their biased and often incomplete reports. Most of the time the reports they get are from "the terrorists" themselves as facts on the ground.
Amnesty has very little first hand accounts on the ground in this region and as a result mostly get it wrong. I think I will pass on the T-Shirt for now.
