One of the most popular events in Long Island this Memorial Weekend is the Jones Beach Air Show, where daredevil pilots and military planes takes to the skies to show off their skills.
The Thunderbirds are also there, as well as military and civilian aerobatic performers.
Hours are from 10 AM to 3 PM on both days. Admission to the show is free, but the $8.00 vehicle parking fee does apply. Be sure to bring sunblock, beach chairs and extra clothing in case you or your little ones get chilly. The website suggests earplugs as well, especially for children; those planes can get loud. And get there early; this is one of Long Island's most popular events!
The event started yesterday, but it continues all weekend.
The schedule is:
Saturday, May 23rd
(10:00am - 3:00pm) Air Show at Jones BeachSunday, May 24th

(8:00am) Sean Tucker departs
(11:30am) Thunderbirds #1-7 DepartTuesday, May 26th
(8:00am) Snowbirds depart

It gets very busy, but this is one of the most popular events in the Long Island area for the Memorial Weekend.

I took this photo on Friday 5/22 at Republic Airport in Farmingdale. This is where the planes are kept for the show. It was a landing after the practice session on Friday.
