Joran Van Der Sloot Declined to Talk to Judge Carlos Morales: Says His Reason is the Motion for Habeas corpus
Joran Van Der Sloot reportedly told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that his confession the Preuvian police have from him was made under duress and that he wants it retracted.
When Judge Carlos Morales visited Van Der Sloot on Monday at Miguel Castro Castro prison, the prisoner declined to give any statement according to the AFP and says he wants to know the decision of his habeas corpus petition first.

The reason he gave was the ongoing motion for habeas corpus, which he hopes will nullify the statements he gave to police that led to his imprisonment.
Habeas corpus is an action by which a person can petition for release from unlawful detention. Among other reasons, it can be used in cases where a person feels they are being harmed by the judicial system as in the case of what Van Der Sloot believes.
The defense has asked for the proceedings in to the death of Stephany Flores to be suspended until that decision on Van Der Sloot's habeas corpus has been reached. The court has not made a decision regarding this request.
A court statement confirmed that van der Sloot "would not make a statement" and was awaiting the decision on his habeas corpus petition which seeks "to invalidate statements before the police because, he said, they would compromise his right of defense."
Peruvian police stand by their statement that Van Der Sloot's confession was obtained legally and that he admitted to the murder himself; he was not pressured to do so.
Van Der Sloot's attorney Maximo Altez told the AFP that his client's confession was obtained without a lawyer present and that his computer was searched with no warrant. Police said a government-appointed attorney was present and that the investigation was conducted in the correct manner.
The court is also asking for psychological and psychiatric evaluations to be conducted on Van Der Sloot. It is thought that the investigation could take up to a year before the trial even begins.

I think the poor lad needs a speedier trial. Hurry up and get to the execution phase of justice.

there's no capital punishment in Peru?

I beleieve Joran is innocent. He told his mother he was being interrogated in a rude manner. This makes no sense that he would just confess to it. I believe he was set up because Natalees family doesnt feel they got justice.

You have a right to believe as you wish. Maybe you should just move onto Iran with the rest of people in worldly denial.

I agree, and there is a report in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf of growing evidence of an FBI undercover operation in Peru against him.
at 22:15 on June 21st, 2010
really? are you sure that FBI operation wasn't in ARUBA? Investigation Joran's attempted extortion of money from Beth Holloway for information leading to her remains?

I Agree with you 100% on that!! I`ts so obvious he was set up!! Very obvious! this is all to get him because of Natalee`s disappearance PLAIN AND SIMPLE! He was framed!

And So It Begins. Whoever puts the world out of its misery the fastest I think will be a hero. Can you imagine one or two
years of being subjected to this foolishness? It isn't Joran that needs the help... it's the REST of us! Yes, I know where the OFF switch is, and I *AM* going to use it.

Quite frankly, they don't need his confession anyway. There is ample other solid evidence. There is video of JVDS and Stephanie walking into HIS hotel room at 5:34 am. There is video showing no one else entered or left that room until Joran opened the door at 8:35 with 2 empty coffee cups in hand. On the video he pretended to lock himself out. He pretended to knock on the door. Then he had a hotel employee let him back in the room. The key was in his front pocket. Stephanie was already dead. JVDS was already showered and cleaned up. Then more video showing no one entered or left the room until 8:56 am. When Joran walked out with bags in hand Then there is the blood evidence. Her blood on his clothes. Then there is the run evidence. JVDS dyed his hair orange and fled to Chile leaving his passport at the hotel. His attempt to borrow money to return to Aruba. The ocean current map in Joran's possession. The murder weapon was JVDS's tennis racquet. His fingerprints in her car found miles from the crime scene. His immediate lies to Chilean police (2 men killed her - sound familiar?). His immediate lies to Peruvian police - he met her at the Casino (leaving out he brought her to his hotel room) His immediate lies to his mother "Stephanie dead? NO. not Stephanie". The robbery. Her credit cards in his pockets. No cash on her even though she had just won $. etc. The courts do not need JVDS's confession to convict him for this horrible crime. He's a pathological liar with zero credibility. Just convict him of murder and throw the book at him for not cooperating and for giving false information to police officers during an investigation. 35 years in a peruvian prison for murder. Then ship him to the US and convict him of extortion in Alabama. And again, throw the book at him. 20 yrs in prison + $250,000 fine. Then charge him with Natalee's murder in the US under the "passive personality principle of international law" and sentence him to life in prison. Along the way, let his fellow inmates know that the information in his head about the mystery of Natalee's disappearance is valuable. Up to $1MM USD. That should do it.

All the evidence is planted. The FBI helped in this - read the article in the Dutch newspaper today about their involvement in Peru. They really wanted to frame this guy. Don't put any faith in the shoddy videotapes - those can easily be edited. The whole case is a pack of lies -and not van der Sloot's.
at 21:17 on June 21st, 2010
I'm sure it was all staged by the FBI for the purpose of framing poor innocent Joran. Because that is their top priority. The United States FBI has nothing better to do then stage a murder in Peru. Isn't that right?

Why would the Peruvian government allow the FBI to pull a stunt like this? And now that your boyo is going to be resting his head in Lima's finest for 30 years or so, out of reach from US Feds, why would they have followed through with their investigation and press charges in June, if they were involved with a set up in Lima, in May?
Oh, my bad, they were just playing CYA so when de telegraaf exposed them for the dimwits you seem to think they are - they could prove they were busy elsewhere. Ah, gotcha. Maybe we should have de dutch reporters come here and solve all the other crimes the FBI has botched over the years.
Signing an unread document, boo who cares. He confessed, when he told them in his own words, what he had done.
Personally I would vote for sending our criminals, who have failed to confess using our tactics - to Lima, let's see how fast Casey Anthony fesses up to killing her daughter Caylee, if she thinks her hard time will be spent in Miguel Castro Castro maximum security prison, rather than Club Med, Florida.

MNIN: Very well defined accounts. Any other info obtained (i.e., evidence), is just icing on the cake. I have a multi-diagnosed young adult... I worked with him for years (started age 5) ... Too bad no one placed JVDS in txmt years ago... He would have learned boundaries, coping skills etc. My son to this day, knows what a behavioral plan is... was inpatient at age 10 (in U.S. the standard is no Bipolar Diag before age 10)... I pd cash for biofeedback, AIT txmts (both not covered by insurance)... and I am in the process of writing a book, as I find society is still behind on the youth and mental illness (adults too)... but bottom line- my son knows right from wrong... I am disgusted Anita VDS now throws in the BP, mental illness etc. I raised my son alone, have two pensions in place before age 50 and both careers I desired since a youngster... it was not easy, but I did my job as a parent of a special needs child (BTW- it is a lifetime job). Too many parents are selfish and afraid to do their jobs. I devoted my life to my God, my son, my occupation(s), and I am last on the list. No, I am not perfect... but at least my conscience is clear and guilt free. Too many cases nowadays of sick ppl hurting kids and others... and although I truly believe JVDS is ill- he still knew right from wrong. I hope justice occurs and JVDS finally meets KARMA. Thx again for a great post.

The Peruvian police didn't want to repeat the interrogation, because with an unbiased lawyer and an interpreter there, and not their cronies, they won't be able to get away with beating a confession out of him this time. This was all a set-up with planted evidence from the first. Their out-of-sync surveillance cameras and their shoddy videotapes with many "outtakes" are ridiculous. And when you look closely at the couple from the back the moment they enter the hotel room, the man looks quite different from van der Sloot. Also, there is a report in the Dutch Newspaper De Telegraaf today that the FBI were involved in an undercover operation against van der Sloot in Peru. It was a big set-up to frame him.

Ok. ok. I get it now. My mistake. The United States FBI was working with the Peruvian Police to frame Joran Van Der Sloot. Agents from both organizations observed Joran speaking to Stephanie. So together they murdered her. Dropped her dead body in HIS hotel room without anyone seeing them. Covered his clothes in her blood. Planted her credit cards on him. Dyed his hair orange when he wasn't looking. Put him on a taxi to Chile (unbeknownst to Joran). CG'd (ie faked) 5 videos of Joran at the hotel. "Tricked" poor feeble minded Joran into confessing to murdering her. Beat her dead body with his tennis racquet, etc. All for the purpose of framing Joran. That makes perfect sense doesn't it? And I suppose that when Joran booked his ticket from Aruba to Columbia to Peru, every single policeman in Peru agreed that framing Joran was of utmost importance. Same goes for the FBI. They had their extortion case, which wasn't a setup, which had teeth (a potential 20 year sentence in a US federal penitentiary) but they really wanted that murder charge. So the entire Peruvian criminial justice system and the US FBI decided to spend infinite resources framing Joran. Isn't that right? Would you like to buy a bridge?

You right
at 21:38 on June 21st, 2010
Think like this. What does the evidence tell you? All indications point towards JVDS murdering Stephanie except for Joran's newly changed testimony. Is the evidence believable? Are the videos credible? Is the blood evidence credible, etc. Is Joran's testimony believable? He's given 3 different versions so far and he has a history of lying to everyone. And none agree with the videos. Does the evidence support that Joran murdered Stephanie beyond a reasonable doubt? YES!

Yeah we know poor, poor boy who never lies and loves his granny.
Our FBI may do things they don't speak of in the light of day, but killing 21 year old college students isn't one of them.
Aruba and the FBI pulled a sting on 5/10 - wire fraud and extortion, after your boyo called the Holloway's atty just 4 weeks after his daddy died and offered to sell the info on Natalee's whereabouts for just $250,000.00. He received a down payment of $15 G by wire and $10 G cash - for which he told John Kelly that his daddy buried Natalee's body in the foundation of a house. Aruba quickly disproved this because the house wasn't built in May 2005. 8 hours later boyo emailed Kelly admitting the lie.
Charges were filed June 3 in the U.S. District Court of Northern Alabama, for wire fraud and extortion. A arrest warrant has been issued -
Don't you think if the FBI set this up the footage would be crystal clear and probably showing boyo swinging his tennis racket?
Odd, the killer(s) had knives, but Stephany was bludgeoned - thoughtful too, they let boyo keep her cash and her credit cards. Oh and they let boyo walk out of the room and bring back coffee! (cause yup, if a bad guy with a knife, just beat someone to death in front of me and they want coffee I'll darn well make sure they get it...)
I don't doubt his mom, she's right he is sick in the head - he was when Natalee died and he is more so now, five years later - after getting away with it! His Aruban atty said as much - "Clearly, he's a sick kid. Clearly, I have nothing to say in defense of his actions." and tellingly said "No one expects anyone to believe anything this kid has to say anymore. Quite frankly, he's on the verge of sociopath and despicable..."Joran's attorney, Joe Tacopena November 2008.

As far as the Peruvian police repeating the interrogation. Are you for real RachelM? The police interrogated JVDS. He confessed to killing Stephanie. ALL the physical evidence points to JVDS. The police had enough evidence and data to pass the case on to the prosecutors for formal charges. Which they did. The investigation hasn't stopped and won't for awhile. As to the videotapes being shoddy. Hogwash. The camera outside Joran's room was good enough to give date and time and enough detail to recognize Joran's face, Stephanies face, two empty coffee cups, and Joran placing his key in his left front pocket. Same for the front desk camera. Excellent videography. Joran is easily recognizable. As to the FBI undercover operation. That was in ARUBA not PERU you nitwit.
at 22:05 on June 21st, 2010
Fine young man you're defending RachelM. A two time murderer (at least 2 times). A junkie. A gambling addict. A repeat extortionist. A person who traffics and sells young women into Dutch Brothels. A narcissist. A pathological liar. A sociopath. And a loser who disparages his own father both dead and alive. All by the ripe old age of 22.

I Believe Joran cause i think Beth twitty set him up! i don`t think joran killed the peruvian girl at all!!
at 19:38 on July 17th, 2010
My wife and I believe he is being framed ,also.Did you noticed how the young girl doesnt look-up,as to know not to let the cameras see her face directly? I think Beth Twitty is written all over this one, my wife believes the girl is still alive. Its strange how Joran traveled around all these years and never killed anyone, but on the fifth anniversry of the Hollaway girls disappearance; this Peru girl is found dead. I think those cameras were shut down long enough to make it look as Stepheny was dead when Joran came back. He came back out of that room with a look of what the hell. Thats why he got the manager to let him back in, hoping he would see the body, also. When that didnt work he ran like anyone else would do in that country. Beth Twitty is the real reason for all of this, not Joran. He will serve his time, but it want really be for the Peru girl that is still alive, but for the Hollaway girl that no one really knows if Joran killed her.Pretty messed up we say! God Bless that kid!
