Verdict in Espionage Trial Expected Soon

Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi has gone on trial in Iran accused of spying for the US.

"The first trial meeting on Roxana Saberi was held yesterday [Monday]," judiciary spokesman Ali Jamshidi told a news conference in Tehran.

"I think the verdict will be announced soon, perhaps in the next two or three weeks," the official added.

Ms Saberi, 31, is being held in Evin prison near Tehran.

Roxana Saberi has been held in Tehran since late January, when she was arrested for buying wine. She then faced more serious charges of working as a journalist without a press card, and was last week accused of spying for the US.

If convicted, she may face the death penalty.

The journalist has worked for a variety of news organisations including the BBC, NPR and Fox News.

Women prisoners in Iran are often raped, especially before executing them. Something to do with their imposed 'culture'.

I'm going outside to bite car tires, are you going to feel bad for me when i get hurt.  My God don't you people know Natural Selection when you see it.  Bad idea, just tell them you embrace diversity, live in a green house and only eat organic food.  They will let you go.

Thanks, Rachel for this article.

WASHINGTON: The US last night called on Iran to immediately release jailed Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi, saying it was very concerned over her situation. Iran's judiciary said that Saberi went on trial on charges of spying for the US, charges State Department spokesman Robert Wood said were "baseless" and "without foundation".

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said it delivered a letter calling for Roxana Saberi's release to the Iranian Interests Section, located in Pakistan's Embassy in Washington.

Wow, she spent enough time in America to become clueless.  She actually believed all the BS the emotionally sensitive people in America taught her.  She chose to move to Iran, her other country.  Reality is a bitch, enjoy your dual citizenship, DUH.  I will not waste a second caring about her, she intentionally put herself in that situation for whatever reason.  To bad.  At least her man got to plug his films right

Time is of essence! United States waits untitl the shit hits the fan to bring strong publicity to a situation like this. Saberi has been there for a while, and only now, after the sentence has passed in closed doors, under Iranian law, under her citizenship legal attachment to her life, only now people are talking. I have heard this case many months ago, and I had thougth the United States were doing everything possible and the impossible to have this young woman free. To no avail. I have been in a situation on international waters. The only american who could have stayed with me, fled via American Airlines. This is a true story girls. During my stay, I have lifted the American flag, and I was receiving VA, which is Veterans Admnistration benefits. It means I have served the United States Military. On April 15, 2004, I was left behind, while all the American Citizens fled American Airlines. Many of you on this blog, maybe forgetting a hidden detail. Although they offer you dual citizenship, they do not explain the legal international implications of the same. So, if you are a young, pretty woman and you have dual citizenship with countries you do not know how they stand on their laws. Please opt for the one, you have the best understanding.

My name is Zuleide Ribeiro Leonardo, and the country is Brazil. I do not have anything to hide.

Wow, she spent enough time in America to become clueless.

Indeed! The United States have been managing to fool the nicest people around the world. Thanks to comment of this port, this is about to change. What a blessing in disguise, your comments come to play!

She actually believed all the BS the emotionally sensitive people in America taught her.

Yeah! DUH! The BS, people like her and I have been believing and buying, up to your big written mouth! You will be starting to hear the international sad violin in your ears, and in your financial skin and ears.

She chose to move to Iran, her other country.

As a US citizen with dual citizenship, the United States law make this type of arrangement possible and believable, DUH!

 Reality is a bitch,

Right, Right, Right! Reality is bitch! 627 American soldiers have died in Afghanistan, and they believe to be fighting for people like you.

It will be nice for the mothers of all the Marines who have died to know how not worth is for them to die for people in America. People like you! Do not feel bad! There are plenty, plenty, plenty like you!

Start to comtemplate US Citizenship isolationship. How does is it feel to be rejected with your American passport in many parts of the world, on the account Reality is a Bitch, DUH!

enjoy your dual citizenship, DUH.

On the same level, all the decent people around the globe will not waste a second enjoying your American faces DUH talk either, DUH!

I will not waste a second caring about her,

She has been working as a reporter. WOW! You are those type of people Brazil has, who have said that a reporter killed in Brazil was worthy his death.

No wonder! Brazil and Americans seem to love each other. The lack of humanity, the cruelty are very similar!

To bad! Too bad for many americans! As the world may start to consider you all as Cruel DUH!

she intentionally put herself in that situation for whatever reason.  To bad.  At least her man got to plug his films right

Her man, her father is trying everything he can to free his child.

Some of us parents, born in another countries will do the impossible for our children.

It is advisable not to undermine people like us!
