Jozlynn Martinez Still Not Found, Police Search Sewer for Body of 2-year-old
The search for the body of 2-year-old Jozlynn Martinez continues in Grand Rapids, MI. Police has begun searching in sewer on Monday March 22. Police believe that Jozlynn Martinez was killed by her mother's boyfriend Jeffery Malmberg on February 22.
Jeffrey Malmberg told police that he killed Jozlynn Martinez and threw her body in a dumpster. Detectives said the sewer search turned up nothing. Police said that the sewer search was not related to tips from the public or Jeffrey Malmberg. Instead, it was prompted by the prosecutor's office.
Malmberg, 40, admitted putting his knee on Jozlynn's chest until she stopped breathing. He said he put Jozlynn's body in a dumpster a few blocks away from home. Jozlynn's mother, Consuela Martinez, was planning to end her relationship with him. He is now failed for second degree murder.
Police have also searched the Kent County Waste-to-Energy Facility, a county-operated trash incinerator on Market Ave. SW. They conducted three days of searches at the South Kent Landfill, a garbage facility on 100th St. SW in Byron Center. Neither of the searches led to the discovery of Jozlynn's body.
