Judge lies and is still on the bench, why?

 A judge, Edward Burke lies to police and states that a citizen named Ademo Freeman, who was asking him questions in a courthouse that the judge obviously didn't like, threatened him. I didn't have to watch the video more than once to know it was an outright lie. Mr. Freeman never threatened Burke, but asked him questions that the judge obviously found annoying.

Yes, it must be so hard to be a public official and to have questions from the public asked of you. So, while Mr. Freeman had video showing that the judge lied about this, the police who arrested Mr. Freeman didn't bother to check the video to see that the judge lied. The man was in jail for at least two days because they didn't even bother to look at the tape, though Mr. Freeman was urging them to do so. So much for police doing their job.

Now, I know that many judges act like petty tyrants. I know that in one case a judge sentenced a man (who wasn't even on trial but the cousin of a man on trial) from 21 days to 6 months for a loud yawn in his courtroom. Six months being the longest someone could be imprisoned without a jury trial. A long time of course to be imprisoned without a trial of your peers, a right under our Constitution.

But this case takes the cake. Police have a duty to investigate, especially when a citizen holds evidence that shows the actual statement by the judge was an utter and complete fabrication. I should be glad that at least they didn't erase the tape, as cops often do to destroy evidence that shows innocence of those arrested.

Now, the DA reviewed this video and dropped all charges, but Mr. Freeman should have never been imprisoned. The rightful complaint by Mr. Freeman against this judge was bounced around and inevitably the judge escaped punishment. He is still on the bench over a year later. Now, for the really interesting part.

There are now prohibitions against filming or having cameras in New Hampshire state courthouses, because the judge community didn't like this guy embarrassing their pal, by showing what a liar he is in fact. So a journalist named Jason Talley was arrested for having camera on his belt at a courthouse checkpoint.

He hasn't even gone past the checkpoint, just having a camera that can film is enough under this rule, which violates the New Hampshire Constitution, to get him arrested. He has faced more punishment for trying to exercise his state and national constitutional rights than the "Honorable" Judge Burke, who lied to get someone arrested. Amazing. Do these people work for us, or do we work for them?

By the way, the questions that Mr. Freeman was asking the judge was about did the judge think it was a waste of taxpayer money for jailing a spectator in a case, for not removing his hat, or not moving it right away. Maybe this judge would be more comfortable in China.
