A 12-person jury in Los Angeles, California convicts Dr. Conrad Murray on INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER charges today after a weekend of deliberation. Michael Jackson was found dead in 2009 from an overdose of medication.The infamous pop star Michael Jackson reportedly suffered from periods of sleeplessness and anxiety. His symptoms were severe enough that he sought expert advice from several different doctors including a dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein who prescribed the medication Demerol during the three months preceding Jackson's overdose in addition to the medication Propofol that Dr. Conrad Murray prescribed to the legendary performer Michael Joseph Jackson. The medication Demerol was used to help him control pain from several operations to his nose and chin. But the Demerol is under speculation as being a substantial cause in the overdose death despite the absence of this drug in the coroners report. The jury in the trial deliberated over Dr. Conrad Murray's fault, a physician who is said to have given Propofol to the singer to help him sleep and a fatal dose. "The jurors never heard from dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein, who the defense contends got Jackson addicted to the painkiller Demerol in the last three months of his life. The defense argued Murray did not know about that addiction, which they said had fatal complications. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor ruled Klein's testimony would not be relevant since Demerol was not found in Jackson's body by the coroner, who concluded the pop icon's death was caused by acute propofol intoxication in combination with two sedatives." What other substances were not found in the pop star's body during the autopsy. Was the star given medications without his consent to keep him awake and working for the music industry? COURT RECORDS DOCUMENTED: Medical records presented to the jury showed at least 24 visits by Jackson to Klein's office from March 12 until June 22, 2009, three days before Jackson's death.
Jurors in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's doctor reached a verdict on their second day of deliberations Monday. The jury buzzed three times at 10:56 a.m. (1:56 p.m. ET) to signal a verdict has been reached after about nine hours of deliberation. The verdict is expected to be announced in two hours, at 4 p.m. ET. The seven men and five women must decide if Dr. Conrad Murray was criminally negligent in his use of the surgical anesthetic propofol to treat Jackson's insomnia and if it significantly contributed to the singer's 2009 death.
