K.P. Bath, Children's Author, Gets Six Years in Jail For Child Porn Possession

Known for his children's book The Secret of Castle Cant and Escape From Castle Cant, K.P. Bath will be spending the next six years in jail followed by five years of supervision and spend a lifetime on the sex offender's registry according to OregonLive.com.

He was sentenced on July 8 for possessing child pornography that he found on the Internet. The Oregon reports that Bath did not make any statement in court, but he did write a letter stating how he thought the government prosecutors had 'exercised too much power over his fate'.

In 2007 it was discovered that Bath had used the online screen name 'Bugsworth' to trade illegal child porn images with a man in Seattle using the name 'Sickman069'.

Investigators searched Bath's North Portland home, seizing a Compaq Presario computer and two thumb drives. He had collected thousands of photographs and more than 125 videos of child pornography

There is no evidence he ever molested or raped any children himself, even though he did work as a volunteer at a children's library.

Bath was set to publish his new book Flip Side last year, but his publisher Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, dropped the project when the charges were made public.
