Children's Author K.P. Bath Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges
K.P. Bath, author of The Secret of Castle Cant and Escape from Castle Cant, pled guilty to possession of child pornography. The children's author faces up to seven years in prison, and will be sentenced on June 24.
The pornographic photos and videos recovered from K.P. Bath's computer included images of four-year-old children. Before his arrest, K.P. Bath also worked as a volunteer at a children's library, but there's no evidence that he hurt or molested any children.
When Kevin Patrick Bath was charged in April 2009, his publisher, Little, Brown for Young Readers, abandoned its plan to publish his newest book, Flip Side.
Bath pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Ancer L. Haggerty to two counts of possessing child pornography, which he traded with a collector in Seattle and another in Dayton, Ohio.
Federal agents found thousands of sexually graphic images and more than 125 videos on Bath's computer and thumb drives, some of which included infants, toddlers and older children, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Sussman.
