Assalam Walaikum,
Why our people don't feel proud on our people. We should rate him as number one mayor of the world beacuse we dont know and interested in the world. Our whole world is our beloved country. We are not seeing what is developing in the cities of the world, we have to see what is going in our country and in our KARACHI.
I think we should be at least POSITIVE now. If you cannot accept MUSTAFA KAMAL as number one mayor, we dont care of you. We as Pakistani and Karachites proud on him on his work and efforts.
WEL DONE MUSTAFA KAMAL

Apart from where he belongs to...he has done an outstanding job. He is very much devoted to his people and city, that is what a quality of good leader. Because he is a borned Karachiite, he knows his city better than anyone else. I have been to Karachi recently and it was really shocking that the whole city has changed alot. Its nothing to do with any politics as the benefits are being enjoyed by every citizen equally. All we need is a good choice of well-educated people, and obviously thanks to MQM for bringing such a nice talented person who is doing his job sincerely. KEEP IT UP.
Please see the website http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4509&page=3 carefully and you will notice that he is ranked 2nd among the top 3 positions. The number (#57) infornt of his name denotes the city ranking of Karachi according to business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience and political engagement.
Look same is with the number one mayor Klaus Wowereit Mayor of Berlin (#17). Here (#17) denotes his city ranking that is Berlin.
I hope everybody will now undestand. Cheers.

Dear All, I have seen most of cmments those are not accepting the Hard work, planing, city services of Mr. Mustafa Kamal, I reuqest all of them please read my comments religiously you will accept the truth, Ranking #57 is for Karachi city not for Mayors selection, Its an other servey for economical / business / political ranking and only for city its not about the Mayor selection and his efforts / planning and services. its belong with ranking of city not for Mayor,. Lets go 3 years back, No infrastructure / no sewearge system / no civic sense / no call center / no bridges's nets / no under passes / no signal free coridores / Traffic jamed / No community police (they are doing good job to helps elders and citizens) / No lights on road and street / street cricket was disappeared from Karachi due to broken roads / No designated and beautiful bus stops / No parking Plazas / No Karachi ownership programm / No green belt / No communication with Residents of city of CDGK... etc (please think religiously you will found more). But all are now exist. World Mayor, a project organised by the urban affairs think tank City Mayors, aims to raise the profile of mayors worldwide as well as to honour those who have made long-lasting contributions to their communities and are committed to the well-being of cities nationally and internationally. According to city residents from all continents, a great mayor must possess these qualities: leadership and vision, good management abilities, social and economic awareness, ability to provide security and to protect the environment as well as having the skill to foster good relations between communities from different cultural, racial and social backgrounds. The World Mayor Project was first carried out in 2004. Methodology to select a Mayor for best, The 2008 World Mayor Project was conducted over an 18-month period, starting in spring 2007. During 2007, City Mayors, the organisers of the project, invited a worldwide audience to submit nominations of mayors deemed worthy of being among the most outstanding city leaders in the world. More than 74,000 voters nominated a total of 820 mayors for this year's World Mayor Award. Some mayors received thousands of nominations while others collected only a handful. The organisers of World Mayor 2008 only considered those nominations which were accompanied by supporting testimonials. I Thought you need to take some analytical and patriortic skills before sending this types of -ve propaganda and creating a bad impression of a good / dedicated person, Its not about MQM, its about dignity, integrity and dedication of his work, Please visit below mention reliable links and get the truth, http://www.nowpublic.com/world/karachi-nazim-mustafa-kamal-placed-among-top-three-world-mayors http://www.dawn.com/2008/11/10/top11.htm Below mention link is the foriegn policy link with page-3 which is about Mayors, # 57 is city ranking not mayors ranking, http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4509&page=3 Do not take it personal and political, we all need to encourage him and whole team of CDGK,at 07:04 on November 14th, 2008

I regard this acheivement of Mr. Kamal as much higher then being ranked #2 "Innovation against enormous odds"
Our editors chose the “mayors of the moment” by looking at several mayors from around the world and identifying three city executive who are doing innovative things against enormous odds.

I'm not living in Pakistan for few years. I dont support MQM at all due to their past which is not hidden to anyone, however, I pray for all leaders for their sincere efforts in the improvement of Pakistani people life.
I'll fully convince if he could minimize the crime if not eliminated, i.e. stealing, robbery, police system etc.
If the cell phone theft is stopped, snatching of qurbani animals skin is history, bhatta khor are vanished, traffic is following the laws..............so on, we all could say, yes, he has done the great job no one has done earlier.
God bless all Pakistanis to get united against the evil forces.

The Mayors of the Moment
No city globalizes on its own. But with shrewd investments and smart urban planning, a mayor can help turn a regional player into a global powerhouse. Here’s how three of the world’s top mayors are climbing the ladder:
1. Klaus Wowereit Mayor of Berlin (#17)
The concept of the global city isn’t lost on Klaus Wowereit. Since taking office in 2001, the popular, 55-year-old mayor of Berlin has tied his fate to rebranding the city as a glamorous, artistic model of urban renewal. And Berlin’s reputation has thrived as a vibrant, tolerant, creative metropolis under his watch. Wowereit cites the construction of a gigantic international airport, the successful 2006 World Cup, and a cultural festival called “Asia-Pacific Weeks” as landmark accomplishments. His critics claim that he focuses more on the city’s image than its crumbling infrastructure or budget shortfalls. “We are poor but sexy,” admits Wowereit. A fun fantasy it may be, but Berliners will probably only be willing to play the starving artist for so long.
2. Syed Mustafa Kamal Mayor of Karachi (#57)
The new mayor of Karachi is an unlikely poster child for innovative urban planning. The 36-year-old Syed Mustafa Kamal governs a city that’s more often in the news for religious violence than cosmopolitan ways. But the hard-charging Kamal is looking to change all that. He’s courting foreign investment, encouraging international ties, and boosting the city’s tourism. Kamal isn’t shy about his goals: He has said he wants to turn Karachi into the “next Dubai.” His Green Karachi project aims to plant thousands of trees in the city. No stranger to Karachi’s bare-knuckled politics, Kamal isn’t letting anything stand in the way of his grand plans: He has threatened to arrest anyone who tries to cut down the new saplings.
3. Wang Hongju Mayor of Chongqing (#59)
Think Michael Bloomberg has his hands full? Wang Hongju is mayor of the fastest-growing city on the planet, one whose metropolitan area is already bursting at 32 million—more than the population of Iraq. But Wang isn’t letting China’s urban revolution happen under his feet. He has been known to collect advice from citizens (for cash rewards), from mayors of sister cities such as Toronto, and even from the works of Thomas Friedman. Wang has sought heavy foreign investment, which his administration says has topped a whopping $3 billion in the past five years. In 2005, he claimed his antipoverty programs had helped 3 million Chongqing residents rise out of poverty in the previous eight years. Wang rarely shies from reporters’ questions, even about hot-button topics such as Tibet or SARS. His approach, a stark departure from Communist Chinese officials of old, has made the 63-year-old Wang the face of a new breed of Chinese mayors.

I have visited Karachi on number of occasions. Cant say its on its way on becoming Dubai.
Kamal must have done commendable things that his nation thinks he is on top, amongst the best in the world. But I dont see this rating from any independent source. The links posted here dont show him at No. 2.
Dont insult yourself and your nation by posting fake ratings.
