New Delhi: Karnatka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa after intense pressure from his party legislators and leaders, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Monday switched to confession mode and admitted that he “committed mistakes to stay in power”.After releasing the book ‘Sri JaChaNi - Nooru Tumbida Nenapu’ on seer and noted writer JaChaNi, the CM bowed his head and said, “With no other option, I have committed mistakes to safeguard my seat”.This, however, is not the first time that Yeddyurappa is making such a confessional statement. “There is no recognition for hard work and honesty these days. I have committed mistakes to safeguard my seat. But I will not continue in power by disregarding the faith and trust of the people of this state,” said Yeddyurappa, who is clearly upset by the recent public barbs by party leaders against him.“The administration should improve and reforms to bring changes in the administration need hard decisions. I will take hard decisions in future. If anyone (in BJP and government) committed mistakes, as the head of the family (government) I am answerable.I am ready to give the answers,” Yeddyurappa remarked.Promising a better administration in the coming days, the CM said, “In my remaining tenure, I will focus on giving better administration and will introduce reforms in the administration”.Pontiff of Nidumamidi Matt Veerabadra Channamalla Swamiji said that the chief minister need not worry for the ongoing tussle in the government, if he concentrated on development works.Dr De Javaregowda, former vice-chancellor of Mysore University, noted writers Dr Sa Shi Marulaiah, professor N Basavaradhya, besides Dr Hemachandra Sagar and MK Pattanashetty, (MLAs of Chikpet and Badami constituencies respectively) were present on the occasion.CM defends taking in RenukacharyaBS Yeddyurappa on Monday defended his decision to induct ‘tainted’ MLA MP Renukacharya into the cabinet.The CM said that giving ministerial post to Renukacharya was a collective decision of the party’s core committee comprising senior leaders.If anyone is speaking against the core committee’s decision, the president of the state unit and senior leaders will take appropriate action against them, Yeddyurappa told reporters on the sidelines of the release function of the book ‘Sri Jachani, Nooru Thumbida Nenapu.’ “I have called a legislative party meeting on Tuesday to discuss ongoing developments in the party. I will take them into confidence on the administrative decisions,” Yeddyurappa said.He ruled out reshuffling the ministry to curb the dissident activities in BJP. He said his main priority was giving a good budget to the people.“BJP has given opportunities to dalits at all levels in the party. Many dalit leaders in the party have become ministers and chairpersons of boards and corporations.I have statistics in this regard,” he added.
