Indian Army major among 10 soldiers killed in occupied Kashmir
CNN) -- Five days of gunbattles between the Indian army and separatist militants in Indian-administered Kashmir have left at least 25 dead -- eight Indian army troopers, including one officer, and 17 militants, the Indian military said Tuesday.

Defense Minister A.K. Antony, meeting with India's military chiefs in Delhi, reviewed the situation in the Himalayan region and told the Army to deal with the situation in the Himalayan region with "utmost firmness."

Pakistan upped the ante apparently on Saturday, with Pakistani troops firing unprovoked on Indian troops in Kashmir for up to 4 hours Saturday.

Indian defense sources in Kashmir said the firing was "apparently intended to give a cover" to militants infiltrating the Line of Control.

India has been accusing neighboring, nuclear-armed Pakistan of "arming and abetting" the infiltrators, a charge denied by Pakistan.

The two countries have gone to war over Kashmir twice, and came close to another war during the Kargil crisis in 1999.

According to sources, Pakistan has been funding the militants with counterfeit Indian money, about 5 to 6 million dollars worth a month.

Security sources informed South Asia Intelligence Review that an estimated INR 250 to 300 million was being disbursed to terrorist and secessionist groups in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) each month, from Pakistan.

Maybe the terrorists would have believed that like rent - an - army  like that of Pakistan , Indian army also obey the orders given  by the President of America. Now they have understood that the case is different.

I salute the fallen heroes of the Indian army who laid down their life for the nation.

So, that is why the Pakistan PM Zardari asked for more help to fight terrorism

More news..

Earlier, defence sources said that Pakistan had deployed several army brigades along Indo-Pak border in Jehlum-Chenab and Chenab-Ravi corridors sparking concern in the Indian armed forces.

The forces had been withdrawn from Pakistan's troubled north-western tribal belt where they were battling Taliban to put pressure on the US, which had been pressing Islamabad to act against terrorists operating from its soil, and diverted to the border with India, they said.

Pakistan had deployed several brigades (each comprising 4,000 to 6,000 personnel), including 33 brigade, 27 brigade, 7 brigade, 28 brigade, 331 brigade, two battalions (with 1,000 personnel each) of 37 Punjab and 39 Punjab Rawalkote in Hajira, Mandol, Hajipeer, Uri, Bhimber, Nikial, Kotli, Sailkote, Zafarwal, Neelam valley and other areas, sources said.

"The deployment had been a surprising move. It is an area of concern for us," they said adding that the Pakistani side has already cleaned the bunkers along the borderline.

The sources said "several brigades involved in the war against Taliban in north-western tribal belt had been withdrawn and deployed along Jehlum-Chenab corridor in the past one week."

Seems India thinks Pakistan may be attempting to interfere in the elections coming up in April and May. Don't think Pakistan is the innocent here. (see video included.)

What they don't understand is , a terror escalation would  move the majority Hindu votes towards pro-Hindu parties like BJP.

It would be more intersting then. Could not understand using which part of their anatomy this taliban mullas are thinking.

Or ,do  they think at all ...???

One thing is for sure is that these puny terrorists are ISO certified fools if dream that they can disturb the elections.
