Kate Middleton Levying Lawsuit Over Topless Vacation Pics

It’s been a rough day for the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, as French magazine Closer published topless photos of her during a romantic getaway in their latest issue.

And while she didn’t immediately react to the violation, it seems Kate has now decided to take legal action.

According to a report from St. James Palace, “legal proceedings for breach of privacy have been commenced today in France,” by the Royal Family.

“Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them. The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so.”

On the other hand, "Closer" editor Laurence Pieau is defending his stance on why the photos were published.

"These photos are not in the least shocking," he said. "They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches."

The public outrage over the snapshots of a sunbathing William and Kate are "disproportionate," he argues. "It is a young couple that has just been married. They are in love. They are beautiful. She is the princess of the 21st century."

According to a report, the pictures taken during the royal couple's recent vacation in the South of France show the Duchess lying out in the sun sans bikini top while her husband rubs tanning lotion on her back.

A caption from the magazine reads, “The last time we saw Kate and William on a balcony it was for their wedding. But they had more clothes on… People always say she doesn’t need to dress up to look good. Well… Kate is proving this.”
