NUORTEN KESKUSTELUFOORUMI

A touching memorial service has been held in Kauhajoki in memory of the ten victims who died at gunman Matti Saari's hand.  In attendance at the service was Tarja Halonen,  Finnish Prime Minister and students from the targetted school.

Click on the link below for a moving view of the ceremony and the sad but beautiful  singing of the choir, contrasting sharply with the ugliness of recent events.

A memorial service is to be held in Finland for victims of a high school shooting spree.

On Tuesday, Matti Juhani Saari, aged 22, shot 10 people in Kauhajoki, before turning his gun on himself.

The church service will be attended by President Tarja Halonen and students of Kauhajoki Vocational School, where the shootings took place.

The murders took place less than a year after another school shooting in which nine people died, including the killer.

You are welcome, Sad story though. I would not want to have to attempt one of those nor have someone close and dear to me be one of the victims. I really would like it if we never had any such news to report.

Yes, it must have been extremely frightening for those caught up in the horror.  Why Finland?  Why twice?
