Keenon Aampay Hall - Teacher of the Year at Shiloh High School Had a Sexual Relationship With a Student?

Keenon Aampay Hall, 29, (CBS has a photo of Ms. Hall) was named Teacher of the Year at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County Georgia, but now she has resigned after admitting to a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

After the allegations came to light the English teacher resigned and a file has been opened on the case. In the file are accounts from the student who allegedly came to Ms. Hall for help with his homework and that it turned in to sexual encounters at hotels, in the classroom, and at a friend's home. In the report it also states that pornography was found on the school laptop belonging to Ms. Hall.

The student has not been named but according to the AJC, he has given a statement in the case saying how Ms. Hall gave him gifts and pressured him to commit to their six-month relationship. He claims that she wanted a baby by him and when he said no she gave him a bad grade in his English class.

“The allegation of the inappropriate behavior came to light because the teacher decreased the student’s grade,” Gwinnett schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach said.

Recently in Georgia a law was signed stating it is illegal for teachers to have sex with students even if the sex is consensual and now Gwinnett County officials are investigating the case. They have the right to revoke Ms. Hall's teaching license if they choose.

“I am very disturbed by this situation, I think she should have been terminated,” said Ericka Pender, the teen’s mother, from her North Carolina home. “She wanted the relationship to go further and was threatening my son. She said she was going to make him fail.”

Ms. Hall is claiming that the relationship was consensual and that at least one other teacher knew about their encounter. No teachers could be reached for comment in this matter, but Ms. Hall's mother said that her daughter is an excellent teacher but was continually stressed by students, parents and school administrators.

“She loved teaching and thought she could change the world,” said Hall, who says she tried to push her daughter to seek a higher-paying profession. “My daughter didn’t have any inappropriate relationship with no under-aged student. She resigned for medical reasons, that’s what her paperwork shows.”

I was shocked to hear about this event, but I knew Coach Hall personally and I would have never expected to see this happen to her. She was a wonderful woman, I even looked up to her becuase she displayed what a successful African American Woman looks and acts like. This is truly a tragedy.

ms.hall was my teacher and she was the collest teacher I ever had and I HIGHLY DOUT!!!!that she would fell that student just because he said he wouldnt have a baby with her he wasnt doing what he was suppose to be doing he just thought he could get a free ride in her class and it wasnt going down like that...and the boy is 18 now so yall might as well kick rocks and leave her alone...hahaha

Briana, Unfortunately your ignorance is showing. You can say whatever you like. It is attitudes like yours, dismissive, Just because you think someone is NICE....She is an adult and if, IF, she had sex with anyone underage person, she should be charged and sent to jail. Whether you think she is cool or NOT. Let it happen to a child of yours and then we'll see what is said.

I totally agree with cottontail, I too use to be in a classroom with Ms.Hall, and I will say she did act as though she was like a student.. Meaning that she did not like many of the girls, she would always get mad at a girl if that girl would ask a simple question. But anyway I did not agree with some of this teachers ways. I have never complained about a teacher and I will say that she is the first teacher that I really disliked. Even if she did have sexual relations with this kid and he agreed to it, she still broke the school rules by being in a relationship with him. Also everyone is seeming to forget she broke a major rule by having sexual iteams on the schools computer. She is no different than any other teacher that has a sexual relationship with students. She to must be punished for her actions.

I actually really liked Ms. Hall. I too am a recent student of Ms. Hall. Her class was one of the most enjoyable for me. She always had an interesting twist to the learning experiences in her class. I would have never seen this coming. But now that i really think about it she was always messing with the boys in the class: sitting on desks, whispering in their ears, extra attention. Yea, now that i mentioned it, it really should have been obvious to us. But she was still a good teacher....in my opinion. Oh and people should really stop saying that she left on medical leave. We all know the truth. And i really doubted that any doctor would give her medical leave for a sprained ankle.

i was in her class this yr. ms hall was one of the most real teachers at shiloh high school. she tells it like it is... she was nothing like any of the other teachers ... idc what they say on the news or on cnn . they didnt know her .. & im pretty sure if she did what ever she did , it was an agreement .. i wish her the best .
