Kevin Curnow, Sally Neighbour and George Clooney??
In her story on Kevin Curnow “Catch Me If You Can” Sally Neighbour stole limelight from George Clooney’s film of the same name. With the story and the film released at the same time, Neighbour hitched her fable to the fame of the name of George Clooney.
Unlike Sally Neighbour, George Clooney is smart enough not to have missed the real story of the loss by the Balangarri Aboriginal people of land bigger than some US States and the $18 million available to pay for it. But Sally Neighbour missed it completely!
Maybe linking Kevin Curnow and George Clooney is not a bad thing as they do look alike! They share common interests too like a passion for peace and justice in the Sudan. Kevin Curnow organised the Juba Peace Consultations with the LRA in 2007 on a voluntary basis. He has the greatest regard for Uganda and Ugandans and the hopes of the South Sudanese. George Clooney, with his father, is a tireless campaigner for the rights of the Southern Sudanese.
I know Kevin Curnow’s family. I have known them for years. I also know that Kevin's wife coined the phrase "The Vision Splendid" when referring to the dream of the Kitja and Jaru aboriginal people, led by the legendary, late Timmy Timms and the artist and elder, Jock Mosquito, in the return of their traditional lands surrounding the Argyle Diamond Mine in the Kimberley, the rugged North West of Australia.
The phrase comes from a line of Banjo Patterson's famous poem 'Clancy of the Overflow' and it goes something like this...
"And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars."
I am glad to know that a book is well underway on the Balangarri story. Talks of a film are being bandied, and you'll never guess who has been touted to play Curnow....

I agree with your post. This is the Kevin Curnow that has written two books on the Australian poets William Wye and Breaker Morant. He has also written at least two film scripts that have been explored by filmakers including Baz Luhzman and Paul Goldman, has edited local history collections in the Upper Murray and written a still cited law honours thesis entitled "Remedies for Innocent Misrepresentation".
This man was the first ever public servant in the Northern Territory, No.0001/78. Despite the crucifiction by Four Corners Reporter Sally Neighbours in 2001, he has continued to perform stellar service to his employers bringing his administrative prowess to every project he has undertaken.
He is an exemplary family man much loved by his family and friends. One wonders what this repeat attack will do to his family. The man known to all he has worked with is not the man described by Neighbours.

I also have know Mr. Kevin Curnow for many years and find that the person Sally Neighbour is chasing must be a figment of her imagination. While I feel sorry for her and the sad death of her father to suicide when a child, I think it is outrageous that the media allows such a one to outlet her hurt and anger at males in a vendetta onto another - and as it is underlined in many articles her accusations have no foundations - only sensationalist headlines
Please ABC get some real reporting and get rid of this very unhappy and frustrated person

WHEN DOES DESTRUCTION BY WORDS BECOME MURDER BY MEDIA?
Chester’s comments that Australian Four Corner Reporter Sally Neighbour hates all men as a result of her father’s suicide and that she has focussed this hate in the vendetta against Kevin Curnow makes the penny drop in understanding Neighbour’s bizarre stories. The connections fall into place and make her intentions become obvious – but is it an intention to destroy Kevin Curnow by words or an intention to murder him by media? Sally Neighbour’s vendetta against Kevin Curnow is clearly manifested to any observer by the extreme and cruel content of her 2001 and 2009 publications. To those who know him, Neighbour’s portrayal of Kevin Curnow is so false that it is bizarre, but her serial character assassinations are so good that the uninformed believe them. At the very least her vendetta manifests an intention to destroy by words but adding their bizarre nature, manifests the psychotic basis of the attacks and turns them into an intention to murder by media. Destruction by words becomes murder by media when the intent is to cause grievous injury and the result is a death, whether of a person or a reputation. Her attacks are so bizarre and vicious that they reek of an intention to cause an actual death, not just destroy a reputation.
