President Obama Delivers Speech on Climate Change from Copenhagen, Denmark

What has happened is a case of well we can only do our best to achieve 2C. China saying its happy means its been promised something it really wanted, that being access to new green and clean technology. Obama went with a bag full of goodies and its not what happened on the summit floor but behind close doors.

The deal is about how the green and clean industry can be used to create jobs and boost economies. No country really wishes to make a binding deal as they may not be able to meet the target only to attempt to do so in their own way.

Obama is relying on a big green industry and not a vote of confidence and I for one think that's just whats going to happen.

Key states have reached what they call a "meaningful agreement" at the Copenhagen climate summit.

Five nations, including China and the US, reached a deal on a number of issues, including a target to limit temperatures rises to less than 2C.

US President Barack Obama said it would be a foundation for global action but there was "much further to go".

Observers called the achievement "modest" and questioned how it fitted into the overall deal being negotiated.
