Saturday, October 15, 2011, 75 to 100 Key West citizens gathered at Mallory Square to participate in and show support for the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Although a Storm was brewing offshore and there were spells of rain throughout the day, spirits were high.
Chants of "Corporations aren't people!" and "Money isn't speech!" invigorated the group before they set off to march up Duval Street.
Not to impede the legal flow of traffic, it was decided at the rally to stay on the sidewalk and obey all traffic lights.
Although it was a relatively small crowd, support and enthusiasm was shown by motorists and pedestrians alike.

quoting Michael Parenti who summed it up perfectly about corporate thinking and running the country like a business. "The problem is that the system rewards the worst part of us like ruthless, competitive, conniving, opportunistic, acquisitive drives, giving little reward and often much punishment -- or at least much handicap -- to honesty, compassion, fair play, many forms of hard work, love of justice, and a concern for those in need."
