NP Rank:
Kidnapped American is our blood and bone, say Baluch
As consensus still remains intact it was an inside job of the infamous Inter Services Intelligence, to err on the side of caution two US-based Baluch organizations have called for the immediate release of John Solecki.
The DC-based American Friends of Baluchistan has appealed to the political leadership and civil society of Baluchistan to do all that they can to have Solecki freed from capitvity as the international image of the Baluch struggle has been gravely tarnished by his kidnapping.
In a statement on Tuesday, three presiding council members of the American Friends of Baluchistan, Rasheed Baluch, Nabi Baloch and Mohammed Ali Baloch said they are anguished about Solecki's welfare amid conflicting reports about the identity of Solecki's tormentors.
“Solecki is our blood and bone,” the Baluch leaders in the US said. “He had faced challenges to help humanity in distress and all Baluch should show him utmost respect. We are of the considered opinion his kidnapping would not have been possible without Pakistani state collusion.”
Founder of the Baloch Society of North America, Wahid Baloch, said the Baloch strongly condemn the kidnapping of Solecki, but added the United Nations can not and must not close its eyes to the crimes committed by two Islamic States, Pakistan and Iran, against the Baloch people for the last 60 years.
"The case of Zarina Baloch and thousands others who are lingering in Pakistani and Iranian jails are a slap on the face of those who claim to be the advocate and defender of human rights. The UN has a responsibility to stop these crimes against unarmed innocent Baloch people and it must resolve the long festering Balochistan issue according to international laws and the Geneva Convention," Wahid Baloch said in a statement posted on premier Baloch discussion groupbalochunity@yahoogroups.com , run by Moscow-based Dr. Jumma Marri, son of former guerilla leader Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani.
Wahid Baloch said the genocide of Baloch nation, bombardment, arrests and tortures, public hanging and the loot and plunder of Baloch resources must stop and the Baloch nation must be given the right to live in peace and freedom.
Solecki who headed the mission of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees was abducted on February 2 and his driver killed in an ambush in Chaman Housing Society in Quetta.
The Baluch leaders in particular appealed to Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, Sardar Ataullah Mengal, Nawab Brahamdagh Bugti, Khan of Kalat Mir Suleman Daud, Dr. Malik Baloch and Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Anjmuman Ittehad Marri and Waja Ghulam Mohammed Baloch to come out with statements of condemnation against Solecki's kidnapping and help the US federal agencies in all possible manner to get Solecki freed with honor and dignity.
The AFB leaders said the kidnapping of Solecki has taken place at a time when the US is being led by people who support the rights of the oppressed nations and peoples all over the world.
“Both President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are respected all over the world because of their pro-people policies and public declarations. We are sure the two are fully committed to supporting the right of nations to self-determination and this will include the Baluch people of Baluchistan,” the AFB leaders said.
The AFB leaders pointed out one of the best buddies of President Obama was a Baloch named Hasan Chandio, from a leading Baluch family in Baluchistan's neighboring district of Larkana in Sindh province -- the political stronghold of the Bhutto clan.
“This provides the hapless people of Baluchistan a unique opportunity to have the ears of the president of the United States and this opportunity must not be missed through any misadventurism,” the three leaders concluded.
Wahid Baloch said the Baloch believe that the kidnapping was an act of ISI to tarnish the image of the Baloch freedom fighters as terrorists, as we have not heard about this BLUF before. "But again, if it is indeed the work of few emotional, frustrated Baloch youths, we request them to please let go Mr. Solecki unharmed, immediately," Wahid Baloch said. "Mr. John Solecki or the UN is not our enemy."
Texas-sized Baluchistan is rich in resources, but the vast majority of its inhabtants are some of the poorest in theworld.
