killing of Hindu Monk sparks protest in orissa
Once its Graham Staines of Austrailia now its Laxmanananda Saraswati victim of religion fanatics.
Swami Saraswati, the founder of Chakapada Ashram in Phulbani, and four others were shot dead by some unknown assailants at Jaleshpata Ashrama school 24th august night. State Director General of Police Gopal Kumar Nanda said the assailants, suspected to be naxalites, attacked the Ashrma and opened indiscriminate firing killing the Swamiji on the spot along with four others.
The whole trouble started after the Fanatic Christians attacked SWAMY LAKSHMANANDA SARASWATHI in Christian dominated Brahmanaigaon in Kandhamal District in Orissa on Monday, the 24 December 2007.
The Swamiji has recently issued a statement to the press stating that his life was in danger ever since he has levelled serious allegations against the Christian missionaries joining hands with the Maoists in the tribal dominated Phulbani district.
The Swamiji had claimed that at least eight attempts had been made on his life in Kandhmal district during the past few years.
The Graham Staines case is another solid instance. Dara Singh, the murderer of Graham Staines was sentenced to death. But then the facts of what led him to commit such a grave crime is completely obfuscated and buried. Simply, Staines clandestinely engaged in conversion activities for about seven years. The Wadhwa Commission investigating the murder, notes that the efforts of Staines resulted in increasing tensions between Hindus and Christians, and Dara Singh’s motive for the murder was "misplaced fundamentalism." And that is putting it mildly. Staines’s progress reports to his financial sponsors in a journal called Tidings shows him as a fanatical fundamentalist who virulently hated Hinduism.
A grand old-man of more than 80 years Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati has been leading the Anti-Conversion Movement in the undivided Phulbani District of Orissa for several decades. He has served the local tribal people, especially Kandhs, in this District with selfless devotion and public spirit which has won for him the lasting trust and affection of the local people. Saffron-clad Swamiji, with his Ashram at Chakapad, has spread his wings through Seva and Sanskar among the tribal people in the region.
