__ فخر الفعايل - الجزء الثالث

It is one of the oddest thing on earth: the monarch is homosexual, but the subjects both gays and lesbians can be jailed for their sexual-orientation.

Sultan Qaboos, 68, of Oman is the world's first gay king in modern times.

Still, the Sultanate of Oman officially is a country where homosexuality is banned under strict Islamic provisions. Qaboos decreed laws to punish both men and women to up to three years in prison for homosexuality.

Omani nationals allege that there are at least 700 good looking men who serve as personal "bodyguards" of Sultan Qaboos.

Most of these bodyguards are either ethnic Arabs or Baluch.

One Omani resident, who claims to be a Baluch and uses the pseudonym sarmachar sent this scribe a hate mail.

He wrote: "I read through your columns. Felt half impressed and half disappointed."

Sarmachar said you are a very good writer but you declare that you are a faggot, that's very disappointing.

Threatening, "If you were standing in front of me I would have blown off your head [off]."

I am delighted to be the first openly gay Baluch on the face of earth -- there is no second as yet.
