Kosovo hails first international recognition

The United States, Britain and France were among the first to endorse Kosovo's independence. But, although in the minority, some EU states made clear they are not about to do so - notably Spain, facing separatist struggles of its own.

As Serbia began recalling its ambassadors from countries recognizing independence, Kosovo's leaders held talks with foreign diplomats. And Britain's envoy announced an immediate upgrade to embassy statu
