KPK asked to bug phones of House inquiry committee members

A number of legislators called on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to bug the telephones of all members of the House`s Fuel Oil Price Hike Inquiry Committee to prevent them from deviating from their intended mission under pressure from external parties.

The call was made by four House members who were the prime movers of the House`s initiative to conduct an inquiry into the government`s policy to increase fuel oil prices last May. They were Yuddy Chrisnandi, Maruarar Sirait, Rama Pratama and Ganjar Pranowo.

Speaking at a discusssion themed "Wither Fuel Oil Price Hike Inquiry?" here Wednesday, they warned the House Inquiry Committee not to yield to pressure from anybody, including oil industry players.

To prevent the committee from straying from its intended misssion, they called on the KPK to monitor the dealings of the committee`s chair and members by placing bugs on their telephones.
