This is one of the two oldest temples in Bhutan, dating from the 7th century. In the foreground is a small house that was the site of the palace of Sindu Raja (the 8th century King of the region) who invited Guru Rinpoche to Bhutan. The Yangphel Lodge can be see on the small peninsula of land in the middle of the forest just to the left and below the temple complex.
