Meher Mohammed Khalil, the Pakistani bus driver who is praised for single-handedly taking the Sri Lankan cricketers to safety when they were attacked near the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore was felicitated by Sri Lanka Cricket today. He is on a visit to the island on an invitation by the government.





Meher Mohammad Khalil, the heroic Pakistani, who drove the bus with the Sri Lankan national cricket team into safety amidst a flurry of small arms and rocket fire during the 3rd March Lahore terrorist attack is expected to arrive at the island today (April 5), following an invitation of the Sri Lankan Government and the Ministry of Sports.


Mr.Meher's visit was arranged to honour and tribute his act of bravery shown during the Lahore terrorist attack and driving the bus with Sri Lankan players into the Gaddafi international stadium averting a possible tragedy.


According to Sports Ministerial sources, Mr. Meher is expected with his family members and scheduled to visit Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and down-South during his week long stay at the island.
