Large Demonstration against pay cuts expected in Dublin city

At 2pm today thousands of people are expected to March in protest at the cuts the government is imposing on public sector workers in Ireland. "ACT! There is a better, fairer way" is being supported by many of the Trade Unions. The protestors will assemble on Parnell Sq, close to the main street of the capital city.
A lot of resentment is felt because it is the people in the mid to lower pay scales that are having to sacrifice up to 9% of their salary in a "pension levy", while private sector workers including bankers face no such levy.

What would that "better, fairer way" have been? Why have you left that out of the story? Private sector workers' jobs are more precarious. Government workers' jobs are rarely cut.

Not sure what the "better, fairer way" plan is Roy C. I wasn't at the march, I was just in the area beforehand and saw the preparations. Police say 120,000 people marched today. The Irish workforce has had a separate 1% levy on all incomes introduced recently also. There is a good debate in here about private versus public alright but I wasn't going there!
