Latest news from Burma
After a long wait for unconfirmed news, I got a special message from my friend who was using Gtalk in a net cafe. He is close to the authorities. According to his message Lt. Gen Ye Myint, the head of the Special Operation Bureau (1) will be resigned because of his son's involvement in illicit drug trafficking. Lt. Gen Ye Mint was once a special representative for Than Shwe in dealing with ethnic cease-fire groups, including the United State Wa Army, the main producer of methamphetamine, for volunteer disarmament.
Son of Lt-Gen Ye Myint, Aung Zaw Ye Myint was arrested by the police last week of May. Maung Weik, the Managing Director of Maung Weik & Family Co. and a former Putra Golf champion was also arrested as investigations revealed he took part in the circle of drug. But nothing has been found on Maung Weik and he was released later.
Film actress Nawaratt, a close friend of Aung Zaw Ye Myint topped the wanted list. They often visited Thailand and Singapore for alleged drug trafficking. Several film stars in Burma were also taken into custody.

By the way a Buddhist temple in London, in an old Victorian school, will be demolished to make way for a hospital here. The Buddhists have been told to go elsewhere despite trying to keep it. We have tried to get the Victorian Society to save it though but not had any luck.

Buddhism based on loving-kindness is always under the selfishness. I wonder why?. I think some people are not human. Maybe they are....

Very enlightening on all aspects. I was in the dark about the methamphetamine production in Burma. It is a HUGE problem in the U.S. and Mexico, and I guess I just never thought of it outside of here. Thanx for sharing this news.
