Latrell Peeks was charged Thursday for punching and pushing Dominique Sharpton, Rev. Al Sharpton's Daughter, out of a car. 23-year-old Peeks was released without bail after being arraigned on charges of harassment and assault. Although Peeks' lawyer, Jennifer Wu, claimed the 6-foot-7 Peeks did nothing more than have a verbal dispute with Sharpton, he did not enter a plea.

Sharpton's lawyers claim Peeks hit Dominique in the face multiple times while in a car in Harlem, New York. According to Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Daniel Brody, Dominique was treated for a cut on her lip and a swollen jaw at a hospital in the area.

Peeks' grandmother, Leova Jenkins, called the charges "ridiculous," saying "he's a good kid." Wu backed up Jenkins' sentiment explaining that Peeks is a full-time college student in search of work.

Dominique and her mother, Kathy Sharpton, Al Sharpton's ex-wife, are expected in court on March 23 to go on trial for resisting arrest after, according to police, the duo ignored orders to return to their cars after swearing at officers and resisting being handcuffed. They are pleading not guilty.

Peeks is due back in court the following day, March 24.
