At least 100 Protesters Arrested at Democratic National Convention
At least 100 protesters were arrested late Monday night near where the Democratic National Convention is being held in Denver, Colorado.
Police used riot gas and crowd control techniques after a crowd of about 300 people refused to disperse. It is the first time pepper spray was used on the protests that have been taking place since the convention began on Sunday.
Anti-Gay protesters clashed with counter-protesters, and there were anti-war protests and many other activists marching, all vying for their chance to be heard.
On Monday evening, police in riot gear clashed with activists about a mile from the site of the Democratic National Convention.
The confrontation erupted in front of the Denver City and County Building as police tried to disperse a crowd of about 300 that was disrupting traffic, authorities said.
It was believed to be the first time police used pepper spray against protesters since demonstrations began on Sunday, a day before the convention.
