100 inmates began rioting at Roumieh Prison near Beirut, Lebanon, setting their clothes and mattresses on fire.

After an hour and a half, the riot was quelled by guards and reinforcements. The prison is apparently populated at three times its intended capacity.

"A number of inmates at Rumieh prison began rioting this evening, burning mattresses and other items to press their demands for reduced sentences," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
