Reynosa is a borderline city where firms like  Samsung and LG Electronics have factories, it is believed the victims where looking for a job.Strange, it would be more logical to kidnap the owners, not wishing harm to anybody of course. Kidnapping should not exist, unfortunately it's an everyday thing in Mexico.

The presumed kidnapped South Koreans were trying to enter U.S.A illegally.

The Chief of Justice in Tamaulipas, José Herrera Bustamante , informed about the liberation of  the five South Koreans, that were supposed to be kidnapped since the past July 14 in  Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

EL ECONOMISTA

El procurador de Tamaulipas dijo que, de acuerdo con las investigaciones, los surcoreanos fueron privados de su libertad con el fin de obtener US30,000 por cruzarlos ilegalmente a EU.
HOSTAGES HAVE BEEN RELEASED

Five South Koreans held hostage in Mexico have been released unharmed, the foreign ministry in Seoul said Wednesday.

The five "were released unharmed at 7:00 pm Tuesday local (Mexico) time," said Lee Jeong-Gwan, director general for consular affairs, in a statement.

Lee said they are now under police protection and would soon be handed over to embassy officials.

Groups of South Korean citizens  have been kidnapped before.

Another group of South Koreans was kidnapped two years ago in Tijuana and later freed after a ransom was paid.

One year ago Taliban militants in Afghanistan kidnapped 23 South Korean church workers and murdered two of them before the Seoul government negotiated a release. There were unconfirmed reports that a large ransom was paid.

patgarcia, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Japan does have some ongoing problems with Kidnapping as well, mostly though executed by North Korea!
