Lemurs butchered in Madagascar
Shocking pictures of slaughtered lemurs killed for bush meat have been released by Conservation International.
A breakdown in law and order due to the recent coup in Madagascar has resulted in poachers killing lemurs for profit.
The dead lemurs are sold to restaurant owners seeking to serve new delicacies, says the conservation group.
It fears this upsurge in the bush meat trade may have been triggered by the suspension of conservation aid by international bodies during the coup.
How stupid can people be, greed and money is all they can think about these animals are completly unique they are beautiful creatures that would be sorely missed if made extinct by poachers. international action is required now and not when its too late. United Nations need to interveine (wouldn't be great if UN took such a role and sent troops to stop these greedy poachers from killing off some very vulnerable species) the world bank should stop all loans and an embargo should be invoked to show how important it is to stop this damn stupidity.
Possibly my solutions sound stupid but at the moment I feel so made at this slaughter and at those that are driven by money to do such a callous act. They are the ones that need slaughtering and the restaurant owners that are paying the money that attracts such a slaughter. Even those that eat the lemurs, how could they its shameful.

i have not been so mad since one of my dogs was killed and eaten on the Island of Cebu Philippines the idiot that stole killed and eaten my beloved pet, thought it was a delicacy. but that's another story. Lemurs are the cutest of the animals found on this planet of ours they are a delicate species and should not end up on some restaurant table and be eaten by some damn elitist with a passion for an special delicacy. Its not the cute that counts its the uniqueness of a species of animal we humans should protect.

This is sick, beyond sick - why do people feel the need to do this? They are such adorable creatures and the way they are being treated is disgusting.
I'm so sorry to read about your dog too, that is heartbreaking.

The eating of dog is dying out thankfully, there are pockets of people that still practice eating dogs, where I live now its frown on by every Filipino its an Island of dog lovers and interestingly enough there are much less ill treated flea bitten dogs on the streets. North Cebu however has a bad reputation in connection to dog eaters. Where eating dog is thought to give one strength and power.
i was very heart broken about my dog, he was a wonderful animal obediant and very friendly, unfortunatly his friendlyness led to his demise. Often foriegners here lose dogs due to the fact they are clean and well cared for and fat and healthy.
No one would touch my present dog as he is a rottweiler and all filipino's are scared of them, however even though i know there are no dog eaters about on Negros, I am keeping the dog close to home and well away from the gate while he is still a puppy (4 months old). He does not go on guard duty till he is an adult and looking much more scary. Though he will probably stay in the house As my partner Ann has spoiled him rotten to a point he has his own bedroom, toys and a skate board. He even has his own frienster page with hordes of fans, lol
Thanks for your concern, and being annoyed as I am over the poor Lemur's.

This is a horrible thing to happen not only for biodiversity's sake, but also on a health level. Eating other primates is simply a health risk. Conservation International has more information on this issue:www.conservation.org/newsroom/pressreleases/pages/poaching-lemurs-madagascar-international-community-must-actnow.aspx

Civilization's veneer is pretty thin in some areas. Dogs become part of the family in many cultures. Stealing someones dog is akin to kidnapping.
