Women in same-sex relationships can now register both their names on the birth certificate of a child conceived as a result of fertility treatment.

Female couples not in a civil partnership but receiving fertility treatment may also both be registered.

The law change applies to female couples in England and Wales who were having fertility treatment on or after 6 April 2009.

Previously, the mother's female partner could not be registered as a parent.

Hmmmmn perhaps I am old fashioned as I would rather have no designer babies and a real mother and father and not a mum-mum. But however the world is for ever changing, perhaps 10 years time we will see cloning and gay men having babies (dad-dad).

Yep I am definatly old fashion and like to see the normal balance of mum dad, kids and the family dog and cat. lol

The biological father of the child means nothing so that the fiction of an absolute substitutability of the one for the other can be maintained.

And, if the child should wish to know her actual, real world father and know anything about her family's history or their genetics, that should be sacrificed so that the "foster father" can be totally equal?

This is pure nonsense. It is also part of a war against men that has been going on for some time.

I expect this will lead to legal issues in a decade or two for a child of such a relationship to find out whom their father really is. By then of course gay marriage will be legal everywhere and complete sexual change ops including making the guy/girl able to produce off spring. Possibly sex organ transplants would be the main option. Guy want to change sex and a woman wants to change sex of course possibly could be donors in a sex change op. If that was possible it could sort a lot of sexual related problems out (just thinking aloud).

It is also part of a war against men that has been going on for some time.

I think this is not only a part of a war "woman vs. man". It's a human materialistic endeavor to stretch freedom and never mind the future.

whats normal a mum a dad a divorce or a family unit that has been brought together through love, pathetic attitudes regarding male and female roles are what keeps people trapped in domestic voilence and women should stay in the kitchen. think about the big picture.   lifes for living why don't you live yours.

It's but high time for someone to stand firm, another baby to say, no more!

Or else, the next generation of babies will grow up and say, law, morality, even spirituality are obsolete; while freedom will be defined according to such!

I thought human experimentation is a no no? Ah in this aspect it's alright because those who have no moral integrity can lead a nation.

Going back to reality, freedom is not absolute!

A gay person can have moral integrity if he or she seeks to learn it.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
