Despite reservation and talk of women empowerment this new study clearly revels that Indian women needs to go a long way before they can claim equality.

This doesn’t quite live up to the image of an emancipated city. According to latest government figures, less than 9% of all women in Delhi are earning members of their families. Compare this with 54.56% of men who work, and the skew against women in the national capital is obvious.

The city government’s 62nd NSS report, "Employment and Unemployment Situation in Delhi", shows that out of a population of 160.21 lakh, 103.67 lakh (64.71%) were not part of the labour force. About 37% men came under this category. The rest, a whopping 63%, were women.
