Visakhapatnam, Jan 27  This is the pathetic story of a freedom fighter. Ms. Majji Devudamma fought for the freedom of India. After India attained freedom, she received several honors. She was highly talked about.

However, after her husband died and when she became too old to do house hold work, her children who shared her property; declined to take her responsibility. The abandoned old woman of 110 years, submitted a petition to the district collector to permit her to commit suicide.

Her heart rending story telecast by TV channels brought tears to many eyes excepting her own children’s. Several people came forward to take care of the lady. Dr. Neelam Sarada Devi, a prominent practicing doctor has approached the collector for her custody. She has assured the collector that she would not only take care of her, but also of her medical needs as a doctor till the end of her life.
