Letterman asks McCain about his relationship to criminal G. Gordon Liddy

Thursday night on CBS's Late Show with David Letterman, John McCain was asked about his relationship with convicted felon and watergate planner G. Gordon Liddy.

G. Gordon Liddy has said he was prepared to murder E. Howard Hunt and journalist Jack Anderson had Richard Nixon ordered it. 

Liddy also instructed listeners on his radio show how to murder an ATF agent.  McCain appeared on G. Gordon Liddy's radio show as recently as 2007 and attended a fundraiser at his house.

The exchange between Letterman and McCain went as follows:

"Did you not have a relationship with Gordon Liddy?"

"Um, I've met him, uh, you know, I mean, um ..."

"Didn't you attend a fundraiser at his house?"

"That's... that's, what ... Is ..."
