On August 9, Levi Aron pleaded guilty to kidnapping and second-degree murder as part of a plea deal.

The Leiby Kletzky case shocked Brooklyn's Borough Park, home to a large ultra-Orthodox Jewish population. Both Levi Aron and Leiby Kletzky's family are Orthodox. The Kletzky family did not attend Aron's sentencing hearing; they had agreed to the plea deal to avoid a drawn-out trial.
