A successful series presented by CNN titled "Black in America", and an upcoming series titled "Latino In America", has LGBT activists urging CNN to also consider a series titled "Gay in America".

With the popular series "Black in America," CNN shed light on the black American experience. They also have an upcoming series called "Latino in America" this October. Considering the vast amount of misinformation regarding sexual orientation, social attitudes, homophobia and rising support for gay equality, encourage CNN to tell the story of gay life in America. American LGBT is a community of unsung heroes, unimaginable hardship, expressive culture and a unique American experience that major news networks have, in many respects, failed to capture.

To urge CNN to consider a "Gay in America" series, readers can contact CNN's team, Richard Davis, Anderson Cooper, or Kathy Slobogin, or by requesting a similar documentary for the LGBT Community by signing the petition at gayrights.change.org.

...and FOX can do a series titled "White in America", and highlight whiney, ill-educated, gun-toting, bible-thumping, and angry hedonists, who have nothing to whine about or be fearful of...

or have I been watching this one already?  could have really wicked conclusion.

worshipnaked, thank you for reading, commenting, and for the recommendation. I think it is always helpful, however, to provide examples of those you believe to be "...whiney, ill-educated, gun-toting, bible-thumping, and angry hedonists, who have nothing to whine about or be fearful of...". Thanks again!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Land,  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Sessions,  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Moore,  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hagee, Acres and acres of my kin, my creepy neighbors, Sarah Palin fits the description AND has two X chromosomes.  Since this is only my opinion, what progressives have labled 'astroturf', is the leading ideological export down here.  If I had the authority to issue a safety recall, I would, y'all.

Interesting line-up, worshipnaked. I'm not sure however if it is you who is not interpreting the piece correctly, or me.

My understanding is that "American LGBT is a community of unsung heroes, unimaginable hardship, expressive culture and a unique American experience that major news networks have, in many respects, failed to capture." Consequently, the request to urge CNN to do a series on "Gay in America" as they have given such time to Blacks and Latinos in America.

Your understanding is? Thanks!

I think this would be a really good idea. I'm sure many Americans would protest but I think it would be worth the fight. That being said, if they do this series they can't just focus on San Fran. culture and crossdressers etc. They need to get multiple perspectives in order to debunk commonly accepted myths.

Does that mean Log Cabin Republicans can be famous for five minutes?

I love the 'gay' community. A friend of mine - in his words " a raVING puffta!" (gay, of course) is what is known as a bear, he has a cub and is all our ready to go to war on those in the gay community who are 'too effeminate'. The conversations I have had with him would fill Wembley stadium for week with the comedic value.

He often tells me that he will "convert" me to the gay cause - his way of saying that I should take a boyfriend because the Greeks weren't all that bad!

How anyone, anyone at all can see gay people as anything less than anyone else is beyond me.

In addition I would be interested in seeing Atheist in America.  I have seen polling that showed that Americans were more likely to vote for a homosexual than an Atheist.  Atheist is the new gay.
